Driving SchoolDriving schools offer programs to help you do the following:
Driving schools need to be approved by your state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or Department of Transportation (DOT). Do not enroll in a driving education program until you have checked to make sure it meets the requirements of your state. Search for great driving test study tips here. Driving school programs typically combine classroom instruction with behind-the-wheel practice. In some cases, the classroom instruction portion of the program may be completed online. For the behind-the-wheel lessons, the vehicle is usually equipped with an instructor's brake and/or an accelerator pedal. A steering wheel on the instructor's side is not necessary because an experienced instructor can easily drive the vehicle from the right side if required. The fees for driving school programs vary widely. If you're enrolled in a CDL training program that is offered through a community college or vocational school, however, you may be eligible to receive federal student loans or grants if you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and meet the necessary income requirements.
